Installing a Pro or Premium WordPress theme can greatly enhance the look and functionality of your website. Here’s a detailed guide on how to do it using two methods: through the WordPress Administration Panel and manually via FTP.
Installation Using the WordPress Administration Panel #
Follow these steps to install your theme through the WordPress dashboard:
Download Your Theme: #
- After purchasing your pro theme, go to your member My-Account page.
- In the Download Section, click on the file name to download your theme zip file. Note: Some modern browsers, like Safari, automatically unzip downloaded files. To prevent this, open Safari and navigate to Safari => Preferences. Under the General tab, uncheck Open “safe” files after downloading. This will allow you to download the zip file without it being extracted.
Log in to WordPress: #
- Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel.
Upload and Install the Theme: #
- Go to Appearance => Themes => Add New.
- Click on Upload Theme, then browse for the downloaded .zip file on your desktop.
- Click on the Install Now button to start the installation process.
Activate the Theme: #
- After the installation is complete, click on the Activate button to activate the theme.
Activate Your License Key: #
- Go to Appearance => About Theme and click on the License tab.
- If you don’t know your license key, log in to your My Account page and click on View Details and Downloads to view the license key.
- Enter the license key under the License Key section, then click on Save Changes and Activate License.
Note: Ensure you use the License Key and not the Product Key. Activating the license key allows for one-click updates.

Manual Installation Using FTP #
If you prefer or need to install your theme manually, follow these steps:
Download Your Theme: #
- After purchasing your pro theme, go to your member My-Account page.
- In the Download Section, click on the file name to download your theme zip file.
Access Your Web Server via FTP: #
- Use an FTP client to access your host web server.
- Navigate to /wp-content/themes/.
Upload the Theme: #
- Ensure there is no existing folder with the same name as your pro theme. If there is, back it up and remove it from /wp-content/themes/ before uploading the new theme.
- Upload the pro theme folder to /wp-content/themes/.
Activate the Theme: #
- Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel.
- Go to Appearance => Themes and activate the pro theme.
