SEO → Redirects sends visitors and search engines from old URLs to new ones. Redirects keep working even while another SEO plugin is active. The figures at the top show your active redirects, how many visits they redirected, and how many new missing pages the 404 log recorded this week.
Add a redirect
Click Add redirect (top right), enter the old URL or path and the new one, and choose the type:
| Type | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 301 | Moved permanently (most common) |
| 302 / 307 | Moved temporarily |
| 308 | Moved permanently, keeping the request method |
| 410 | Deleted on purpose |
| 451 | Unavailable for legal reasons |
- Regular expressions are supported for advanced rules, for example
^/blog/(.*)$→/news/$1. - Each rule counts its hits and last use.
- Rules can be turned off without deleting them.
Import and export
Use CSV files with the columns source, target, status, match. You can also import from Redirection, Rank Math, Yoast SEO Premium, Slim SEO and SEOPress.
Automatic redirects
When a published post’s or term’s URL changes, a redirect from the old URL is created for you. You can also choose what happens when a published post is trashed.
404 log
SEO → 404 Log lists URLs visitors requested that don’t exist, with hit counts and referrers.
- Click Redirect on a row to fix it in one step.
- Set how long entries are kept and the maximum number of entries.
From the command line
Redirects can also be listed, added, imported and exported with WP-CLI.
