Site Audit

Updated

SEO → Site Audit checks every published page for SEO problems and tests every link. It runs on your own site, in small background steps, so it doesn’t slow the site down.

  1. Click Run first audit (later Run audit again) at the top right. Progress is shown while it runs; you can leave the page.
  2. Read the health score (0–100), alongside errors, warnings, notices, pages checked and broken links.
  3. Open Issues: each check with how many pages it affects. Click a check to see the pages, each with an Edit link. Fixing a page and saving it updates its issues immediately.
  4. Ignore an issue that doesn’t apply; it no longer counts against the score.
  5. Check Broken links: links that return an error, redirect or can’t be reached, and the posts that contain them. Re-check after fixing.

Settings

Run the audit automatically every day, week or month; check links to other websites or only internal ones; set the word count below which content counts as thin.

On the SEO dashboard, a Site audit card shows the latest health score, errors, warnings and broken links, and broken links and audit errors appear in Next steps. The WordPress Dashboard widget adds a Site health figure.

What it checks

  • Titles and descriptions: missing, too long, too short or duplicate.
  • Content: thin content, images without alt text, H1 headings in the content, missing focus keywords and low SEO scores.
  • Links: orphan pages (nothing links to them), pages without internal links, and broken or redirected links.
  • Indexing: noindex pages that others link to, canonical URLs pointing elsewhere, and redirected pages.
  • Other page issues: long URLs, missing social images and incomplete structured data.
  • Site-wide settings: search engines discouraged, HTTPS, permalinks, a robots.txt that blocks everything, no sitemap, no logo, and Search Console not connected.
