AI Assist uses the AI Client built into WordPress 7.0 and later. The plugin stores no AI keys of its own and never contacts an AI service directly.
Set it up
- Install an AI provider plugin and add its key under Settings → Connectors. WordPress shares this connection with every plugin that uses AI.
- Turn on the AI Assist module under SEO → Modules.
- Open SEO → AI Assist. Status shows whether a provider is ready (Open Connectors takes you to the settings). Under Limits, set the requests per user per day; the page shows how many you used today.
In the editor
- Suggest with AI buttons appear next to the SEO title, meta description, social fields and the FAQ form.
- The image block gets Write alt text with AI, which writes alt text from the image itself.
- Suggestions are only saved when you choose one.
Nothing is sent unless you ask
