Checkout with Paddle for Easy Digital Downloads connects your EDD store to Paddle. Paddle is a merchant of record: it sells your products on your behalf, charges the customer, collects and pays sales tax and VAT worldwide, issues tax-compliant invoices, and handles fraud and chargebacks. You receive your earnings as payouts.
What the plugin does
- Customers pay by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay (whatever your Paddle account offers) without leaving your site. The Paddle payment form appears inside your checkout page, or as a popup.
- Orders are marked Complete automatically when Paddle confirms the payment, and EDD delivers files and emails as usual.
- Subscriptions sold with EDD Recurring Payments are billed by Paddle. Renewals, failed payments, cancellations and pauses stay in sync.
- License keys from EDD Software Licensing are created on payment, extended on every renewal and revoked on refunds.
- Refunds work both ways: refund in EDD and the money is returned through Paddle; refund in Paddle and EDD records it.
- Customers get a link to Paddle’s tax invoice or receipt on their EDD receipt.
No products to create in Paddle
Each order is sent to Paddle with its own name and price, taken from EDD. You never have to copy your catalog into Paddle.
