Paddle gives you a separate sandbox account for testing, with test cards and no real money. The plugin keeps two sets of credentials, Live and Sandbox.
Which set is used follows EDD’s own Test Mode setting (Downloads → Settings → Payments → General → Test Mode):

Orders remember their mode
Refunds and subscription changes for a test order always go to the sandbox, even after you go live.
Create a sandbox account
- Sign up at sandbox-login.paddle.com.
- The sandbox dashboard is at sandbox-vendors.paddle.com.
- Paddle’s sandbox test card is
4242 4242 4242 4242with any future expiry date and any CVC.
