Frequently asked questions

Updated

Quick answers to the questions store owners ask most.

Do I need WooCommerce Subscriptions?

Only to sell subscriptions. The plugin works as a one-time payment gateway without it.

Do I need to create products in Paddle?

No. Prices come from WooCommerce. Classic subscription plans are created automatically.

Can customers pay with PayPal or Apple Pay?

Yes, with whatever payment methods your Paddle account has turned on.

Which checkout pages are supported?

The WooCommerce Checkout block, the classic (shortcode) checkout and the “Pay for order” page. If you use a custom checkout template, test it in sandbox before going live.

Can I use WooCommerce coupons?

Yes. Coupons are applied in WooCommerce and Paddle charges the discounted total, so Paddle’s own discount code box is hidden.

Can I switch from Classic to Billing later?

Yes. Enter your Billing credentials and change the account type. Existing orders and subscriptions keep using the account type they were placed with, so their refunds and subscription changes still work.

Can customers switch subscription plans?

No. Paddle can’t change the plan of a running subscription, so switching is turned off for Paddle subscriptions. Customers can cancel and subscribe again.

What happens if a refund I send is rejected by Paddle?

On Billing, the order gets a clear note, so you can refund the customer another way or delete the refund.

Do payments stop if my license expires?

No. Payments, subscriptions, renewals, refunds and invoices don’t depend on the license. You only stop receiving updates and support.

What happens to my settings if I delete the plugin?

They are kept, unless you ticked Remove data on uninstall.
