Paddle has two platforms, and the plugin supports both. Choose the one your account uses in the Paddle account type setting: Paddle Billing or Paddle Classic (legacy). Only the fields for that account type are shown.
| Paddle Billing | Paddle Classic | |
|---|---|---|
| Who has it | Every account created after August 2023 | Older accounts that still use the Classic dashboard |
| Credentials you need | API key, client-side token, webhook secret | Vendor ID, API Auth Code, public key |
| Where to find them | Paddle → Developer Tools → Authentication | Paddle → Developer Tools → Authentication and → Public Key |
How to tell which one you have
Open Developer Tools → Authentication in your Paddle dashboard:
- If you see API keys and Client-side tokens, you have Paddle Billing. Follow Set up Paddle Billing.
- If you see a Vendor ID and Auth Codes (and a separate Public Key page), you have Paddle Classic. Follow Set up Paddle Classic.
Moving from Classic to Billing later
Enter your Billing credentials and change the account type. Existing orders and subscriptions keep using the account type they were placed with, so their refunds and subscription changes still work.
